Thank you for all who have created and contribute to this site! I have joined because I am new to flying and am sure I will have questions that the veterans of the flying world will be able to answer. Thanks again.

Hi everyone,
I had to give up my ticket about 35 years ago for a medical issue. I got married 23 years ago and other than rehashing old flying times with old friends, flying really never entered my life again. Until a few years ago when my 53 year old wife suddenly decided she wanted to learn to fly. I encouraged her but really didn't think she could do it. Boy did she surprise me. She aced her tests and her check rides. So I bought her a 1977 172n with a 180 engine. I am her co-pilot and airplane washer. I feel like I am starting all over again and I have a lot of questions that most certificated pilots should know. Plus neither of us are mechanics so I have a lot of mechanical questions that I will be asking too. Be easy on me if my questions are too basic or to redundant.

good evening all! I just recently started my private pilots license training. I am Air Force stationed in Japan. I am 15 courses away from my BS in aeronautics and hoping to get a comission and a pilot slot once I can finally apply in 21 months.
hope to learn a lot from all of you with more experience than myself.

Welcome to the forum Frizz, always good to see new members join up. Flying in Japan should be very interesting, make sure you post some pics of your experience if you have the chance. We always like to see pics.

Hi All, I fly out of Corvallis Oregon from KCVO which is a very nice small airport. I'm still renting until find the right plane. I generally fly a 172N but occasionally I'll fly the 172M, Warrior 2, or Arrow.
KCVO is 250msl but I often fly to airports at 4500msl which makes for challenging altitude density situations.

If anyone is looking to move a 172N or newer, please let me know I might be interested in buying.

Welcome bfrederick! I'm not sure how I would act if I could take off from an airfield that did not have at least 4500 as its field elevation.

Hi everybody. I just joined up a couple of nights ago. I used to fly 172N's prior to 9-11. 9-11 basically shut down the airspace in and around Washington DC to general aviation, along with it, the Quantico Marine Corp Flying Club that I was a member of. (So I lost my plane) I am hoping to get back into it, this time most likely buying my own plane. I am a 30+ year A&P Mechanic employed by the govt and work on Gulfstream GIV's, G-III's, Citation XL's, and work avionics as well. Next year I am getting my IA, and I also am a private pilot but non-current. I hope to find a worthy 172 to fix up, and hopefully base it near my home at Lake Anna Virginia and get back up in the air again. My only problem is I have worked on jets so long I forgot how to work on the little ones with recips!!! But I still have time to learn before I go into retirement!!!

I joined your forum as I am picking up my new to me 172 1961 next weekend
Well provided it passes muster with the mechanic. I am hoping to improve my knowledge base and hopefully make ownership more fun.

Joined today, student pilot with ~20 hours but a life-long enthusiasm for all things aviation. Training in a 172 and want to learn more about potentially owning one some day.

Welcome to the forum, Markb1118. You've come to the right place if you want to learn about the ownership of a 172. Just start reading, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Greetings All.. My day job involves flying large Boeing Jets, and then my passion is jumping in a 172 and teaching. My wife and I hope to purchase our own shortly and start a small scenic tour and flight instruction business.

Looking forward to learning the ropes from the seasoned pilots that own these birds...

Thanks

Welcome, AAFlyer757. I fly AA a lot too (Exec Plat for the last decade), but in the rear of the plane. Not many 757 flights anymore. Mostly 767 and 777 to Europe.

This is a great group. Let us know when you find your new bird.

Thanks Henry.. Rather exciting to be shopping for one. We are dual qualified on the 767/757, so I fly both, let me know when your next trip over is, and if I am flying lets see if we can get you upgraded!

Best,
AAflyer757

Quick question, a couple I am looking at have high total times on the airframe (ie 15000), my understanding is these airframes can last forever (slight sarcasm) if maintained. Thanks

Hi, I just bought my first plane: a '78 172 with 1400 hours on it. Thought I'd stop by and introduce myself.
