Just cause they have more money than us shouldnt give them better treatment (just gives us a licence for us to charge them more for stuff)

That it did, but the parking spots must be bigger in Idaho too wink

My most memorable rental car was a few years back out on Adak Island Alaska on the Aleutian chain. It was a rusted out, 30+ year-old pickup truck that they got $125 a day for. When I questioned the price, the guy said if I didn't want it to just go ahead and call Hertz. LOL

I've got a new "best courtesy car", actually it is a police pickup truck complete with the functioning red lightbar at Lordsburg New Mexico. I've got some pictures somewhere and I'll post them when I can find them.

I found the picture of the Police Pickup. It's still in use as a crew car and the red light bar still works - oh, the temptation...

A few years ago I overnighted at Yakima WA where my Sport Cub's manufacturer installed a new composite prop. The nice folks at CubCrafters offered me the keys to the "company truck" to get to the hotel. I assumed it would be an extra-cab Nissan or something ... turned out it was a huge Ram 3500 with dualies.

I had not, only the pictures on the wall of the FBO/sales trailer. I hadn't realized they had some models already built. Next time I'm there, I'll get a tour laugh

At KRHP (Andrews-Murphy, NC)- This is not exactly a courtesy car, but the FBO manager was kind enough to let us barrow his car to go to Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) and grab some lunch at a restaurant located on the river.

As pilots we must be more trustworthy then the average person. We went down to pick up some stuff last month near Omaha and the courtesy car keys were missing. The last user forgot to put them away and was mailing them back to the airport. This airport bum asked us if we needed a ride and gave us the keys to his caddy. He wouldn't take anything from us in terms of payment.

That and the fact that you're leaving a plane usually worth far more than the car....

I agree! When we borrowed the car from RHP, the FBO manger did not even asked my name, phone number, or an ID!! Never experienced that before!

They sort of have your plane as collateral. I'd take a plane over a car any day. smile

No courtesy car at RHP...been there a bunch of times in the past few months. The manager is really nice, and so are the locals. I was up therefor a burger a few weeks ago and a local pilot drove my friend and I to the Burger Basket only to find out they are not open on Sunday. Bummer...

Several years ago a buddy of mine used the courtsey car (Caddy) parked behind the FBO at a airport in near Wichita. Come with one stay and breakfast -- Free -- at the county jail. Turned out the courtsey car was to good to be true.

We got a courtesy car at almost every stop from PA to CA and back. Most were unremarkable, but I do remember the great people at Santa Teresa,NM (5T6) and Sweetwater, TX (SWW).

I've got to start taking pictures.

Remember, a lame horse is better than no horse at all.

BEST: So far it's Signature Chicago Midway with new Lincoln Continentals

WORST: We'd be here all day, see the first sentance

Vicksburg Miss had a old Explorer, sorry no pic. VKS?

They did however want my personal car insurance copy of all documentation, etc before I could get the keys while they kept my $100000 + plane with no identification other than airport ID.

The worst was at Berion County Airport, Nashville GA. The manager Carl Salisman called for the car which was at a garage for repair so we had to go get it. It was like an old green Plymouth Duster that had bad brakes you had to pump twice to get it to slow down. Driving in the rain the water came up through the holes in the floor.
The best was a Lincoln at Rowan County Airport, North Carolina. At the time, Lindsay Hess couldn't do enough for transiet pilots.

All I can say is.... Stop by at Seeley Lake (23S), Mt. You'll get a good laugh when you see the courtesy "car". :-)
