Any thoughts? Too modern? Lacking classic style?

My panel upgrade - day mode.

Night in the hanger. Zoom in to notice that the round standby instruments are internally lit by Electroluminescent light rings. Really cool.

KC, I like those lights you have on the steam gauges, they look like they are very easy to read. Are those able to be dimmed and how difficult were those to get installed? Thanks in advance.

Viper...it's an easy (sort of) installation and comes with a dimmer. Connecting it to the original dimmer works, but doesn't last so it's better to use a separate dimmer....just put a set in last week for somebody...

Joe, thanks... I will talk to my Mechanic and see if he’ll help me with the install.

They are made by UMA the are electroluminescent Light rings. They are a wedge that goes between the panel and the instrument. They require a power inverter and the dimmer pot that they also sell. You can buy them from Aircraft Spruce. The lights themselves are pretty cheap, $55 each, and the inverter is $75 and the dimmer pot is $50. The expensive part was the labor. I had it done along with the panel install and I believe the labor for just that was $940. With well over 300 hours in the install, I hardly noticed it.

You can buy the light rings with a cutout for a knob or not. They also have them in Green, Red, and white but I believe only the white is legal for an airplane. They actually have a bluish cast to it. Really neat.

This is how I post picture here.

Go to this site http://imgur.com/ and creat a free account. You can then upload pictures there. Once you do that, click on the picture you uploaded. On the right hand side of that picture will be a list of all that you can do with that picture. Where it says BBC code click copy. Then come back to this site and paste it on the topic you like. Hope this helps.

I use Flickr. Same process as Sky21 uses. I used to use Photobucket until they held all uploads hostage and wanted to charge $39 a month. I'm probably going to start hosting my own as soon as I can get it set up.

Would love to see the G5 panel mount. I have been toying with the idea of putting one on the right side but I don't think I can integrate it with my current panel.

You're going to love the digital six pack. Are you doing the HSI too?

Thanks, my son now has to make his own way in this world instead of counting on an inheritance due to my ability to find new toys for my plane on a regular basis.

I want to ask, was the panel upgrade done through an STC? or was it done through a field approval. The reason I ask, I tried to make a new panel for a 1952 170. the Feds would not give me a field approval, there was no STC at the time, so I had to abandon my "new" panel. I did make a nice original panel however.
So did you make your own or ?
Thanks
Dave
