Anyone have a solution to tighten the thumbscrews that secure the oil access door in the cowling? Ours has been loose for a while and opened in flight today.

Sounds like they need to be replaced. Ask your mechanic to replace them.

I've added one or two split lock rings from cowl fasteners to the outside with success.

they are listed under Cessna 180 but fit battery doors for all cessna
