Hello all... Just discovered another place to read about real life folks in aviation. Not a pilot or owner...but long time aviation junkie. Looks like lots of good stuff to read in here...

Probably don't have alot to contribute, but will definitely be in sponge mode soaking it up.

Hello everyone! My name is Adam, I'm one of the three A&P Mechanics that work for Eastern Cincinnati Aviation, the FBO at Sporty's Clermont County Airport (I69). I am not a pilot, yet, just an aviation enthusiast who loves nothing more then being around airplanes. My co-workers and I manage the flight school airplanes, 11 cessnas, a Bonanza, a motor glider, two Aztecs, and a few other planes on the field here, we love what we do. Thank you for having me on your forum!

Hello All,

My name is Dave. I've been reading on this for a little over a month now and I'm really impressed with all of the information available.

My wife is the pilot and I'm a student in learning, as funds and time allow. Haven't soloed yet, but plan on it soon. We own a 1958 172. My wife bought it while we were dating and it was a package deal when we got married. How good it that!!!

I have some specific questions about our O-300 I'll be posting soon about how to make it more efficient and economic to fly. As I've seen, there is a wealth of information available for this.

Thanks, Dave

Good Day All! Name is George and am new to the forum and somewhat of a newly stamped Private Pilot (got my ticket in Aug).

I just got checked out in a 172 and boy is it like driving a old model pickup compared to the plane I got my PPL in. Very eager to gain lots of hours in the 172.

Thanks For the welcomes! How can one go about networking in trying to 1)utilize an aircraft for a lower cost and/or 2) catch a ride with someone thats flying through or around the area as dual to gain experience from the experienced...if this all makes sense. lol.

Hello all!

I've been browsing the forum here for about 2 hours and I think I've found a new home for my semi-addiction to forums. <- Denial

A little about me: I'm currently serving in the US Army, and stationed at Fort Riley, KS. My passions are Jazz and Aviation. I've been flying since I was a kid with my father in our '79 172N N1947F. Years passed and I eventually soloed for the first time in 1999. Well, life and money got in the way of things and I found myself sporadically paying for flight lessons here and there to keep the dream alive once I was on my own and in the military. My most recent flight activity was earlier this year when I was on track to start my dual cross country (soloed again.....for the 2nd time).

Well, life came up again. I had orders for Japan at the end of this year and decided to cancel the rest of my flights due to the lack of time available vs. training benefit (i.e. not being able to fly much, if at all, once I got to Japan thereby wasting money to just tool around despite any short term progress). My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in late October and I made the decision to stay where I was so at least I was in the country when the time came. Well, the time came and went on Nov 11th (what a day) and I find myself here in Kansas with orders for ALC (Advanced Leaders Course, the old BNCOC for you crusty folks) at the end of October 2012.

My plan is to save up $4,000 so there is no excuse for lack of money and finish this darn thing starting in April. I hope to regale you with my learning experiences and reap the benefits of knowledge this forum provides.

I'm flying with KAC at KMHK, in their fantastic 180HP 172N. Other than the HP difference, it's exactly like the plane I flew with my father. If there is anything I can do to help anyone (can't think of anything I could EVER help with!) just send me a PM or email.

Happy New Year everyone!

Oh, and pat yourself on the back if you are still reading this. A real trooper, you are.

Welcome to the forum, Sgt Shank! It sounds like you've had a heckuva year. Here's hoping that 2012 will see you as a newly minted Private Pilot (Sargent Pilot?). If your schedule permits, you should definitely try to join us for our 2nd Annual Fly-In this coming June at Strother Field (Winfield KS). Last year we had a great mix of people who came from all over, and we're planning on having even more folks join us next June. You can find more details about the event as we get closer to the date (and we've got a countdown clock on the right side of this page to help remind you that it's coming smile ).

Keep us up to date with your training progress, and don't be shy about posting your questions. We have all been students (and some of us still are!)... we're here to help.

Thanks! I am thankful that it will be in the same state! I will be taking videos of the flight-training and would like to use screencaps from them to post on this forum.

Is there a limit as to how many photos one can post? I'll try to keep them reasonable size-wize.

Also, where can I find that kick-butt signature of the US with the states I've flown in?

There's no limit to the number of videos or photos, because you don't actually post them to our forum. Instead, you post your photos to your favorite site (photobucket, flickr, etc) and then link them here. You can find instructions in the New Member Information area, in this thread in particular.

To find out how to get your own "States I've Landed In" signature, check out this thread.
